Urine Spraying
Cats reach sexual maturity between six and twelve months of age. At this time, male cats may become aggressive and have some behavioral problems. One such problem is spraying. When a cat sprays, he backs up against an object and urinates on it. The simple motive behind this action is dominance. The cat wants to claim ownership of the particular object and let other cats know that it belongs to him. Male cat spray has an extremely strong odor, and most people find it difficult (if not impossible) to live with a cat that sprays. The best way to handle the problem of spraying is to stop it before it starts. Make sure your male cat is neutered as soon as possible. A male that is neutered before puberty will stop spraying, but if you wait too long, neutering may not stop this behavior. Talk to your veterinarian for more information.
